Vacherin Fribourgeois, characterised by a distinctive

Vacherin Fribourgeois AOP is characterised by a distinctive, subtle full-bodied flavour, and a delicate melting texture that make it equal to the world's finest cheeses.

Fribourg's master cheesemakers combine traditional know-how with the love of a job well done. Every day, in their cauldrons in the village dairy, they process milk from the neighbouring farms, rich and flavourful. They use traditional methods, and recipes unique to Vacherin Fribourgeois AOP , that have been handed down from generation to generation.

After this maturing period, we have a «manageable» cheese of about 8 kilos in weight and with a diameter of about 33 cm. Those who appreciate a delicious, mild cheese, should savour the ivory to pale yellow coloured cheese curd of the Vacherin Fribourgeois AOP when young. As the cheese ripens, the additional exciting aroma becomes a particular attraction of this cheese. Cheese connoisseurs around the world appreciate it. A delicacy on every cheese platter.

AOC stands for Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (protected designation of origin). This is an official label for traditional products, and it is protected under Swiss law. To qualify for this label, the products must be associated with their origin and heritage, and they must have been produced according to traditional methods in their region of origin.
